Hi there! Jerilyn here. I am native Phoenician who moved to Denver in 2012 to start a career in a journalism; six years later, Colorado’s unique work-play balance, welcoming culture, and endless adventure has kept me here. I am the Digital Associate Editor at 5280, the Mile High City’s award-winning magazine, which won best big-city magazine from the City and Regional Magazine Association in 2018 (the highest award in the industry). I co-direct 5280.com’s editorial strategy, write and edit stories, oversee the digital department’s internship program, and produce the Local, a daily newsletter for Coloradans (among many other duties). A personal essay I wrote, “My Father’s Final Gift,” was part of a feature that won a National Magazine award in the Personal Service category from the American Society of Magazine Editors in 2019.
On the weekends, you’ll likely find me freelancing, exploring the Front Range, hanging out with my dog Luna, obsessively planning my next trip, and drinking more coffee than anyone really should on their day off.
